Summer School visitor enrollment
This option is available for students who only want to take classes during the summer sessions. Both students who hold a bachelor’s degree (including high school students) and students who do hold a bachelor’s degree may apply.
Enrollment Criteria
You may apply through the Summer School to be a Summer School visitor:
- If you are a college student enrolled at another university (including international universities). Undergraduate applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA (or equivalent) at their current college or university
- If you are a high school student who will finish junior year prior to Summer School (summer session II only)
- If you are former UNC-Chapel Hill student and want to take summer courses without earning a degree
- If you are a UNC-Chapel Hill student graduating in May immediately prior to the first summer session (When applying, choose the option for “I hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree.”)
- If you are taking courses to renew an existing teaching license (please consult with the School of Education and the NC Department of Public Instruction before applying)
- Or, if you have an associate’s degree and want to take summer courses without earning a degree
You should not apply through the Summer School to be a Summer School visitor:
- If you are currently enrolled, full-time or part-time, at UNC-Chapel Hill (see the UNC-Chapel Hill Students section of the Summer School website for more) information
- If you are a new, incoming student for the fall (see the Incoming Students section on the Summer School web site for more information
- If you previously were enrolled at UNC-Chapel Hill but did not graduate and want to earn more credit toward your degree (you will apply for readmission through undergraduate admissions or The Graduate School)
Please visit the Summer School website for more information and to apply.
- As a Summer School visitor, you are applying for summer only, not to continue into the fall.
- If you wish to take a Summer School course and apply the credit toward the completion of a degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, you must be readmitted through Undergraduate Admissions.
