welcome, visiting students

In general, visiting students are not eligible for financial aid.  Visiting students who are classified as graduate students and enrolled in prerequisite courses for admission to medical school may be eligible for loans under certain circumstances and should work with the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Visiting undergraduate students need to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Visiting graduate students taking graduate-level courses need to earn a P or H in their coursework. A single grade of F or grades of L in 9 or more credit hours will mean that visiting graduate students are no longer eligible to take courses at UNC-Chapel Hill. Visiting students cannot transfer credit from other colleges or universities to UNC-Chapel Hill.

In most cases, there is no limit to the number of semesters a visiting student may enroll. However, dual-enrolled high school students lose their eligibility to enroll once they graduate high school.  Summer school visitors may only enroll during summer session 1 and summer session 2 for the summer term in which they have been accepted.

Please visit the Office of the University Registrar’s website for information on auditing. High school students are not eligible to audit.
